Research and Development Manager
Tate is an industry leader in the development and manufacture of data center infrastructure solutions and commercial office raised access floors. The Research and Development Manager will lead a multi-disciplinary team to develop next generation cooling solutions for data centers, while defining the R&D roadmap and ensuring alignment with business strategy.

Responsibilities
Lead, mentor, and develop a multi-disciplinary R&D team (mechanical, structural, and thermal engineers)
Define the R&D roadmap in alignment with business strategy and market trends
Foster a collaborative, high-performance engineering culture focused on innovation, quality, and manufacturability
Oversee project prioritization, resource allocation, and technical decision-making
Represent R&D in executive discussions, customer meetings, and cross-functional initiatives
Lead the design, modeling, and testing of liquid cooling manifolds, air handling units (AHUs), and other thermal management systems
Utilize simulation tools, such as CFD and FEA, to optimize airflow, heat transfer, and overall system efficiency
Collaborate closely with structural engineers and manufacturing teams to integrate thermal systems into modular steel assemblies
Support customer-specific product development and prototype validation efforts
Contribute to shaping the research and development strategy, priorities, and ways of working as the department expands
Take initiative and actively influence the technical and strategic direction of projects
Effectively bridge the gap between design, prototyping, and production phases
Communicate clearly and professionally with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Maintain a proactive, collaborative, and commercially aware approach in all activities
Qualification
Required
A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Thermal or Heat Transfer Engineering, or a related discipline
Between seven and twelve years of experience in designing thermal management systems, including liquid cooling, HVAC/AHU, heat exchangers, or related areas
Demonstrated success leading multi-disciplinary teams and delivering complex engineered products
Strong expertise in CFD and/or FEA, with proficiency in tools such as Ansys, Fluent, or Star-CCM+
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong communication abilities with the capacity to engage diverse stakeholders
Preferred
A master's degree is preferred
Experience in data center cooling, electronics cooling, or HVAC industries is highly desirable
