BDO is seeking an Interim Senior Accountant – Not For Profit who will be responsible for preparing and reviewing financial statements, managing month-end and year-end close processes, and ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and non-profit regulations. This role requires strong technical skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, client-focused environment.

Responsibilities

Prepares and reviews financial statements in accordance with applicable accounting standards and non-profit regulations
Manages month-end and year-end close processes, including reconciliations and journal entries
Assists with implementation of new accounting policies and procedures relevant to non-profit organizations
Supports clients with technical accounting issues and provides recommendations, including grant and fund accounting
Coordinates with internal and client teams to ensure timely and accurate deliverables
Identifies opportunities for process improvements and efficiency gains
Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, donor restrictions, and internal controls
Participates in special projects and ad hoc assignments as needed
Other duties as required

Required

Bachelor's degree in Accounting
Three (3) or more years of accounting experience
Experience with financial statement preparation and review
Experience with month-end and year-end close processes
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
High attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong client service orientation

Preferred

Experience in non-profit accounting
CPA
Experience with non-profit accounting software such as Sage Intacct, Blackbaud, or QuickBooks Non-Profit
Knowledge of non-profit accounting standards, including fund accounting and grant compliance
