Senior Manager, Business Development (Growth & Strategy)

Responsibilities
Utilizes the Nordson Ascend Strategy and business system, NBS Next, to ensure the division focuses on the most attractive growth opportunities to drive organic above market growth
Drives ongoing competitive analysis at the division level and develops strategies to take share in the most attractive markets and therapies
Leads the development of the strategic planning process, including the analysis and prioritization of potential initiatives for growth, marketing strategy, and development of presentations to communicate plan to Corporate Leadership
Directly and indirectly through team, develop relationships with key customers and industry leading professionals to ensure business strategies and customer partnerships are aligned
Develops deep relationships with key customers to foster voice of customer activities to understand the customer’s needs and direction in the market
Works closely with the product innovation team to develop and establish business justification and priorities for product and capability expansion supporting strategic initiatives. Creates and ensures that standard financial criteria are utilized to justify and prioritize the development pipeline
Sets clear criteria for programs being added to the development portfolio while being judicious about terminating programs not meeting defined success criteria
Performs regular reviews of portfolio status/health and makes corrections as needed to achieve growth
Creates, maintains, and executes long term product and capability roadmaps that ensure sustained profitable growth through differentiation and value generating capabilities
Develops and maintains pricing strategy for all product categories that are in line with growth and profit expectations. This includes single unit pricing, portfolio pricing strategy for market alignment, and individual customer pricing contracts
Works with finance and operations to develop and be accountable to monthly sales forecasts by product category and monitor performance to those forecasts, escalating and prioritizing factories as necessary to ensure forecast attainment
Monitors and analyzes product category profitability to the total gross margin line. Manages and is accountable to profitability through regular pricing actions or driving initiatives through the factories where cost improvement is required. Sets priorities for factories where necessary
Leads and manages ongoing simplification activities that support the division objectives for reducing complexity
Works cross functionally with finance, operations, sales, quality, and other functions to provide strategic senior leadership to the business in alignment with revenue growth goals. Provides regular direction, prioritization, and leadership to the business to ensure customer satisfaction and profitable revenue growth
Defines and tracks key strategic performance metrics including customer revenue, new product revenue, and others. Develops root cause counter measures for misses
Supports the business with analysis and assessment of businesses directly in, and adjacent to, the NMIS market to create a robust pipeline of acquisition targets supporting the profitable, acquisitive growth of the business
Delivers a talent strategy that builds a winning team through the development of professionals with strong business and strategy acumen with bench strength, attracting, engaging, developing, and retaining talent
Manage timelines, budget, and organizational reporting and analysis effectively
Demonstrates strong talent management experience, hiring and developing high-performing, highly engaged marketing professionals

Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in sales, marketing, business, or related field
8+ years' experience with market planning and analysis, including relevant professional experience in the medical device industry
Proven success developing and leading strategic market and product growth plans in the medical industry
Experience in strategic marketing, strategic planning and analysis, including leading products through full life cycle
Demonstrated strategic planning with proficiency in data analysis and business modeling to foresee business trends and make recommendations on strategy
Skilled market researcher with deep understanding of market trends, emerging technologies and methodologies
Product line management
Ability to establish and maintain executive level relationships with end customers and industry leaders
Ability to understand commercial and competitive dynamics
Proactive, with ability to self-direct through multiple concurrent projects
Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to inspire and influence others cross-functionally
Leadership and management of employees, projects, and business partners
Experienced leader with the expertise to provide the information and direction to promote the profitable growth of the Company
Effective communication and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to work with cross-functional teams
Successful candidates will work in a dynamic team-based environment where individual contributions make a difference
