Responsibilities
Perform structural analyses, design, and verification of bridge geometry
Perform bridge load ratings
Develop structure plans for bridges and other transportation structures such as culverts, retaining walls, utility vaults, noise abatement walls, pedestrian bridges, and sign structures
Participate in the development of construction contract documents, such as specifications and cost estimates, and review shop drawings and other construction documents
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Structures
EIT/FE Certification
4+ years of experience in designing roadway infrastructure
Understanding of standard engineering practices, techniques, and applicable codes
Proficiency with AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications
Working knowledge of plan development with CADD (MicroStation and/or AutoCAD)
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel and Word for engineering and business applications
Ability to work in a team environment, demonstrate initiative, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to collaboration and continuous improvement
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred
Professional Engineer (PE) license
Prior experience with New Jersey Department of Transportation and/or New Jersey Turnpike Authority projects preferred including well versed in client design policies, standards and specifications
Experience with Bentley OpenBridge Designer (LEAPSteel), CSiBridge, and AASHTOWare BrR desirable
Ability to work on multiple projects in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
Ability to actively engage in multiple perspectives when solving problems, is willing to learn from peers, and encourages reciprocal learning among team members
