Responsibilities

With RN direction and supervision, performs patient care activities based on age, need and expectations of the patient

Performs various nursing skills according to established standards based on patient's plan of care and intern's ability/learning needs

Assists patients with activities of daily living

Assists with monitoring patient condition and response to medications, treatments, and therapies; takes relevant actions if any concern/question

Utilizes the Student Nurse Intern learning experience to enhance and/or develop the knowledge, competence in technical, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills, and the behaviors that are essential to the role of the Registered Nurse

Provides support to other patient care team members by assisting with patient care, associated tasks, and clerical functions

Uses various tools and techniques to communicate patient care information and enhance interpersonal skills with patients, families, and healthcare team members

Documents in the medical record consistent with guidelines and facility standards

Communicates pertinent clinical data and relevant changes in patient status to RN or other appropriate healthcare team members
