Abacus Technology is seeking a Sr. Systems Engineer to be a key technical resource and act as a team lead for systems activities supporting the Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers (FLETC). The role involves prioritizing system outages, designing operational systems, and collaborating with various IT personnel to ensure optimal system performance.

Responsibilities

Prioritize system outages, projects, and maintenance tasks while providing hands-on technical assistance and resolution support to ensure continuous system operations

Design, implement, and optimize operational server systems and prototypes based on engineering data, government standards and requirements

Collaborate closely with Network Engineers, Systems Engineers, equipment vendors, and other IT personnel to identify, define, and resolve complex or trending issues

Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair enterprise systems infrastructure, ensuring compliance with FLETC and DHS policies

Communicate and coordinate with data center engineering teams to resolve technical issues across distributed data center environments

Recommend and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, reliability, and system performance across the enterprise

Required

5+ years experience in system engineering and administration over the last seven years

Strong technical knowledge of enterprise server systems, virtualization, and system administration best practices

Experience prioritizing system outages, projects and tasks while providing technical assistance and resolution to team to ensure optimal system performance

Able to design and implement operational server systems and prototypes according to engineering data and Government requirements

Extensive knowledge of systems principles, protocols and design to evaluate and gain optimal performance

Able to collaborate with technical team, equipment vendors, and other personnel to identify, define, and solve trending or developmental problems

Experience with cloud engineering and migration strategies

Able to communicate, coordinate and resolve technical issues with data center engineering

Comfortable interacting with technical and non-technical staff and all levels of an organization to understand business needs and recommend technical solutions

Must have strong communication and organization skills

Must be a US citizen
