Policy, Strategy & Research Unit Internship - Hourly - Albany

New York State Department of Labor is seeking a motivated Spring Intern for their Workforce Reporting and Analysis Unit. The intern will support the evaluation of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) program’s effectiveness by collecting and analyzing data, preparing reports, and contributing to program improvement recommendations.

Responsibilities

Assist in collecting, cleaning, and analyzing quantitative and qualitative data on participant demographics, service utilization, training completion rates, job placements, wage progression, and long-term retention metrics
Prepare visualizations, summary reports, and presentations for internal stakeholders
Contribute to recommendations for program improvements

Required

Be a United States citizen or foreign national eligible to work in the United States
Be 18 years of age or older
Be actively enrolled in a New York State college, university, or graduate program, or be a resident of New York State, attending a college, university or graduate program outside of New York State
Have completed a minimum of one (1) year as a student at a degree-granting two or four-year college or university (completion of one year's worth of academic credits over a longer period may qualify part-time students for participation in the program), or be a currently enrolled graduate student or accepted in a graduate degree program
Have a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.0, or the letter grade equivalent
Proficiency in SQL, Excel, PowerBi, and at least one statistical tool
Strong analytical and communication skills
Demonstrated interest in workforce development

Preferred

Preferred minimum education level: Senior
Preferred maximum education level: Graduate Student
