Responsibilities

Assist in collecting and cleaning data from diverse sources, ensuring its accuracy and completeness for analysis
Utilize statistical tools and software to analyze datasets, identifying trends and patterns that inform labor market insights
Create visualizations and reports to effectively communicate findings to stakeholders, enhancing data storytelling skills
Support predictive modeling projects, collaborating with experienced analysts to develop models
Contribute to ongoing projects through research and literature reviews, gaining a deeper understanding of data and its role in shaping public policy

Required

Be a United States citizen or foreign national eligible to work in the United States
Be 18 years of age or older
Be actively enrolled in a New York State college, university, or graduate program, or be a resident of New York State, attending a college, university or graduate program outside of New York State
Have completed a minimum of one (1) year as a student at a degree-granting two or four-year college or university (completion of one year's worth of academic credits over a longer period may qualify part-time students for participation in the program), or be a currently enrolled graduate student or accepted in a graduate degree program
Have a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.0, or the letter grade equivalent

Preferred

Familiarity with data analysis tools such as Excel, R, Python, or SQL, and a willingness to learn and apply these skills in real-world scenarios
Basic knowledge of visualization tools like Tableau or Power BI, with a willingness to learn how to create clear and engaging visual representations of data
Ability to approach data sets with curiosity, identify trends, and draw meaningful insights, along with a desire to develop these skills further
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for presenting findings and collaborating with team members
Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a degree program in Data Science, Business Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or a related field
Some experience or coursework in statistical analysis and an eagerness to learn about predictive modeling techniques
A genuine curiosity about labor market dynamics and public policy, with a desire to understand how data influences these areas
Ability to work effectively in a team environment, contributing ideas and participating in group projects and discussions
