Intermediate Acoustical Consultant
Stantec is an environmental services company seeking an Intermediate Acoustics/Noise Consultant to support their expanding U.S. environmental noise, vibration, and acoustics practice. The role involves collaborating with scientists and engineers on various projects, conducting technical analyses, and managing noise assessments from proposal to completion.

Responsibilities
Contribute to noise/acoustics projects and tasks from proposal to completion, working with the acoustics team to deliver projects on schedule and within scope and budget
Work on multiple projects and tasks concurrently
Conduct technical analyses, modeling, and measurements
Task management of small to moderate sized noise assessments
Participate in or lead site visits, field noise measurements surveys, post-processing of measurement data, and development of predictive noise models
Analyze and interpret acoustic modeling results, evaluate noise mitigation measures, and document the results of acoustic analyses through development of technical reports
Maintain professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of the latest trends, software, and technology
Qualification
Required
Knowledge and understanding of the fundamentals of acoustics and noise control is required
Experience in environmental acoustics/noise assessments is required
Experience with acoustic measurement practices, software, and instrumentation is required
Experience with acoustical modeling software (e.g., CadnaA, or similar) and technical tools to support acoustics/noise analyses (spreadsheets, GIS, AutoCAD) is required
Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite, specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook, is required
Willingness and ability to travel periodically for field work, including multi-day trips to various locations within the United States, is required
Strong work ethic, high ethical and quality standards, and a desire for team success
Strong written and verbal communications skills
A Bachelor's degree in acoustics, engineering, physical sciences, or a related field is required
Four to seven years of progressively responsible experience with technical specialization in acoustics and noise assessments is required
Preferred
Experience as task manager of small to moderate sized noise assessments is preferred
Experience reviewing local, state, and federal environmental regulations and permitting requirements is preferred
Coursework in acoustics is preferred
Experience with natural gas pipeline and compressor station noise studies (e.g., FERC requirements) is beneficial
Experience with vibration, underwater noise (hydroacoustics), transportation noise (e.g., TNM modeling), and building acoustics is beneficial
Familiarity with scientific programming languages for data processing and analysis (e.g., Matlab, Python) is beneficial
A Master's degree in acoustics, engineering, physical sciences, or a related field is beneficial
