System Development & Test (SD&T) Engineer
General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) is a leader in remotely piloted aircraft and tactical reconnaissance radars. The System Development & Test (SD&T) Engineer will be responsible for resolving complex engineering problems related to engine test stand design and troubleshooting while working in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities
Designs, develops, troubleshoots, repairs, and supports maintenance of propulsion test stand equipment, both electrically and mechanically
Designs, develops, and provides necessary technical documentation for test systems and/or customized tooling
Applies technical knowledge to analyze, investigate, and resolve assigned engineering problems
Prepares, coordinates, and leads test activities. Also obtains and analyzes test data
Creates system plans and provides technical presentations, as required
Ability to lead small teams and projects, as well as mentor new engineers
Supports production to provide evaluation and disposition for non-conformances, including root cause analysis, as well as participating in the corrective and preventative action process
Prepares recommendations for capital expenditures in support of manufacturing or test process improvements
Passes information up and down the management chain efficiently and effectively
Performs other duties as assigned and works in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices
Responsible for observing all laws, regulations, and other applicable requirements wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company
Maintains strict confidentiality of sensitive information
Qualification
Required
Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; four or more years of experience with a bachelors degree or two or more years of experience with a masters degree. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education
Prior experience in a Test & Evaluation role for propulsion systems is highly desired
Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance
Must have a thorough understanding of engineering concepts, principles, and theory with technical experience demonstrating the application of those concepts
Ability to utilize the required diagnostic tools and equipment
Able to work extended hours as required, including potential travel may be required
Preferred
6+ years of mechanical design and electrical system design and troubleshooting experience, to include design and implementation of complex systems or subsystems
Experience working with, or knowledge of, various engine propulsion systems, including jet and/or diesel engines
Integration of hardware, software, and network components
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Reading and creating electrical, mechanical, and system level part/assembly drawings and BOMs
LabVIEW software experience
Experience with various manufacturing/fabrication methods, including, but not limited to welding, machining, waterjet/laser cutting, anodizing, sheet metal, etc
CAD modeling experience using NX, Creo, and/or SolidWorks
