Munitions Inspector

Responsibilities

Prepares items for shipment to other depots and/or installations
Performs quality monitoring of maintenance operations, area inspections magazine storage inspections, and basic load inspections
Inspects ammunition and components using appropriate Ammunition Surveillance Procedures
Inspects empty military vans and trucks to ensure that carriers meet standards for transporting ammunition explosives, and other hazardous materials
Receives all types of ammunition and explosives, verifying shipment details (NSN and condition code) against Depot surveillance records

Required

Ability to do the work of an Munitions Inspector without more than normal supervision
Ability to perform common Munitions Inspector duties
Ability to inspect ammunition or explosive items for signs of defects or deterioration
Ability to document the turn-in of ammunition for accountability
Ability to store ammunition and explosive material into storage areas and vehicles in accordance with regulations, drawings, and safety standards
Ability to interpret instructions, specifications, etc. (Other Than Blueprint Reading)
Dexterity and Safety
Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, and Repair, etc
Knowledge of Materials
Technical Practices (Theoretical, Precise, Artistic)
Use of Measuring Instruments
Completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter
Ability to lift up to 45 lbs. in the regular performance of duties
Possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License to operate a forklift within 180 days of employment
Obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Tier 3F security clearance or access for the duration of employment
Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation
This position has been designated Mission Essential
This position is covered by the 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence are not eligible for the position
This position requires the incumbent to pass urinalysis periodically throughout the employment
Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315
