The Entry-Level Coastal Engineer will conduct coastal studies and assist in various environmental projects and analyses to support the firm's waterfront infrastructure initiatives.

Responsibilities

Conduct coastal studies, flood risk management, coastal restoration, and shoreline stabilization projects, including coastal structure planning

Have interest in planning and design of public spaces at the land-water interface, resort planning and recreational boating facilitites

Complete data and engineering analyses and GIS mapping

Perform field work as needed

Prepare written reports and assist in preparation of construction plans and technical specifications

Field data collection and navigation of difficult terrain may be required

Implement scientific and regulatory tasks for projects in order to ensure compliance with applicable environmental laws, regulations and policies, including NEPA, Endangered Species Act, and Clean Water Act

Assist with project types including:

Dredging and beach nourishment

Waterfront structures

Coastal and environmental protection initiatives

Ecological surveys

Wetland restoration

Coastal site development

Qualification

Required

Masters Degree in Coastal Engineering or related field preferred

0-3 years of experience as a coastal engineer

GIS proficiency

All new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check in compliance with NIST 800-171

Preferred

Programming skills desired (MATLAB, Python or similar)
