ABSTRACTOR SUPERVISOR

Responsibilities
Performs complex technical and supervisory work by conducting title searches of land using public records and computerized title systems to determine the legal status of real property
Compiles and summarizes legal documents for use in acquisition and eminent domain proceedings; documents title, ownership, encumbrances and restrictions on real property
Supervises and participates in complex data gathering, analysis, and compilation of chain of title searches and abstracting activities
Work is performed independently under the general supervision of the Section Manager and is reviewed through conferences, written reports, and results obtained
Qualification
Required
Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification
Minimum of three (3) years of experience in the abstraction of legal histories of parcels of land
Preferred
Experience in reading and interpreting legal descriptions (must specify on application)
Experience with surveys
Experience with title searches/commitments/policies
Experience performing complex title/property research and reviewing complex documents
Four (4) or more years of experience as an Abstractor
