Responsibilities
Evaluate innovative technologies such as automated guided vehicles (AGV), autonomous mobile robots (AMR), and automated storage and retrieval systems (ASRS) to improve labor and space efficiency
Develop specifications, installation and training plans for new equipment and/or material-handling systems
Manage logistics projects with internal/external customers & contractors including the following activities: budgetary planning, quotation, procurement, design review, implementation, process validation, and process sustainment
Follow all safety standards and protocols in accordance with DENSO’s requirements and industry best practices, including Contractor Safety (all Logistics Engineering team members must achieve and maintain Level 3 Safety Observer status)
Analyze data, perform cycle time analysis and complete capacity studies to evaluate the effectiveness of current and future warehouse and conveyance operations
Identify cost-reduction or process-improvement opportunities within the logistics operation
Design, maintain, and optimize warehouse facility layouts
Design equipment and tools to be used in logistics operations
Collaborate cross-functionally with Logistics, Logistics Maintenance, NAITS/IoT, SHE, Facilities, Purchasing, NAPIC, and M&T teams to integrate new technologies and ensure seamless implementation
Collaborate and align locally and globally as required (DMTN, DMAT, DMNC, DNJP)
Assess the environmental impact and/or energy efficiency of logistics activities
Prepare reports and presentation materials as requested
Perform other responsibilities as required by business need
Qualification
Required
Bachelors' degree or higher in Engineering or a related field from an ABET accredited program
5+ years of relevant experience (includes co-op experience)
Possess and demonstrate excellent analytical, communication (verbal and written), and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively with multi-disciplined cross-functional teams
Ability to successfully manage several tasks/projects at once, and to prioritize as necessary
Ability to develop and closely follow schedules and due dates
Desire to learn and master new methods and technology
Willingness to develop, maintain, and strengthens partnerships inside or outside the organization to drive the success of the team
Ability to think 'outside the box' to develop clever, unique solutions to problems
Ability to adapt to ever changing, complex work requirements, tasks, and environments where there are limited precedents
Demonstrates a deep understanding of and respect for the perspectives, ideas, and experiences of all people
Commitment to maintain and promote a safe and clean working environment for themselves and others
Willingness and ability to contribute to sustainability by increasing efficiency and reducing environmental impact
Proficiency in MS Office applications
Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD or similar drawing software
Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, up to 10%
Willingness to work periodic overtime, as required
Preferred
Knowledge of DENSO's Production Engineering policies, procedures, and terms would be beneficial to this role
