Advanced Lead Propulsion Modeling & Simulation Engineer

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain cycle performance models
Developing physics-based aerothermal system models that behave reasonably throughout the operational envelope
Resolving model issues through understanding both the physical system, the modeling that represents it, as well as the numerical iteration methods used to solve the system
Packaging models for delivery to customers and integration into rigs or simulators
Creating, developing, and integrating aerothermal models of individual components, physical processes, and subsystem models, that constitute an overall system model
Leading design reviews of modeling approach, functionality, and validity
Executing and assisting others with the analysis / evaluation of assigned projects that meet business standards, practices and procedures and the product / program requirements
Assuring proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures
Interfacing with tool organizations and commercial teams to improve and standardize processes such as data reduction and class code development
Managing and communicating project status, business issues and significant developments
Participating as a presenter and reviewer in technical and program reviews
Actively supporting the Performance Technical Community and Design Board
Leading strategic initiatives and aligning efforts to FLIGHT DECK

Required

Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college in mechanical, aerospace or electrical engineering
At least 5 years of experience in a relevant engineering position
Due to the nature of the duties of this position, this role requires the individual to obtain and maintain US Government Security Clearance; prerequisite for a security clearance is U.S. citizenship
Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening

Excited about propulsion and the aero / thermodynamic disciplines
Passionate about problem solving, learning and mentoring
Able to work effectively both in teams and independently
Expertise with the Numerical Propulsion System Simulation (NPSS) software
Experience with gas turbine engine cycle performance or related discipline
Experience with programming or software development and management
Strong oral and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
Demonstrated process orientation in approach to work
Ability to obtain Secret US security clearance or higher. Or current or prior Secret clearance or higher
