Facilities Maintenance Technician (Cleaning Crew)
The City of Venice is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician to perform general custodial duties and minor repairs in city-owned buildings. This role is essential for maintaining cleanliness and order in city facilities to ensure a safe environment for employees and the public.

Responsibilities
Provides cleaning service to assigned buildings, including but not limited to, sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming floors, as well as keeping desktops and table surfaces free of dust
Cleans restrooms including mirrors, washbasins, commodes, etc. Replenishes tissue, towel and soap dispenser
Performs minor building maintenance tasks, including but not limited to, painting, changing light bulbs, replacing filters, etc
Removes trash and recyclables from rooms and buildings. Deposits waste and reusable material in appropriate centralized receptacles
Moves furniture and equipment to prepare rooms for meetings and special events
Responds to requests for cleanup of emergency or accidental spills, messes, broken glass, etc
Notifies appropriate supervisor about any notable need for major repairs or maintenance conditions
Safely and efficiently drives and operates city vehicles as required. Transports supplies, tools, or other material to and from job site
Responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and orderly condition of assigned city facilities to ensure a sanitary and safe environment for employees, visitors, and the public
Qualification
Required
High school graduate or equivalent
Custodial experience including minor building maintenance repair
Knowledge of maintenance and custodial requirements and procedures
Must be able to work independently of direct supervision and capable of sustaining regular and predictable attendance
Skilled in the use of cleaning tools and products and performing minor building maintenance tasks
Ability to operate and use standard cleaning equipment and materials
Awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, fellow employees, and the general public
Possess a valid Florida Driver's license, free of any serious violations
Ability to sit, stand, walk, climb, bend, stoop, and lift/carry up to 40 pounds
Must have good eyesight and hearing with or without aids
Must possess excellent hand and eye coordination
