Manufacturing Programming Engineer (Onsite)
Pratt & Whitney is transforming the future of flight by designing and servicing innovative engines. The Manufacturing Programming Engineer will support Oklahoma City Operations for Special Technologies Coating, focusing on programming and improving production equipment while collaborating with engineers and maintenance providers to enhance delivery and quality performance.
Responsibilities
Rapid troubleshooting and programming of production 6-8 axis robotic arms and CNC Laser drills
Design and analysis of automated systems and sub systems including both hardware and software solutions
Communication with system integrators in East Hartford (EH) or West Palm Beach (WPB) to assist with the continued development and debugging of production systems
Support cost reduction of mature products through improved part processing turn-around-times using automation technology and innovative mistake proofing techniques
Integrate closed loop methodology through sensors and data collection to enable process control and reduce operator intervention
Participation in standard work development for the programming, design, troubleshooting, and development of automated systems
Support the Process Methods Engineering Team with production goals and daily requirements as required
Proficiency in Microsoft 365 to produce reports, brief all engineering related requirements for the STC
Partner with WPB and EH initiatives to align requirements for OKC STC
Travel may be required less than 30%
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree with 2+ years of programming experience or an advanced degree in a related field. An associate's degree with 4+ years of programming experience or, in lieu of a degree, 6+ years of programming experience may also be considered. Experience to include: proficiency with Programming Logic Controller (programming language (PLC) Ladder Logic and communication, working knowledge of robotic systems, water-jet systems, vision systems, peripheral sensors, and their construction and ability to work from data such as solid models, part, and tool drawings
2+ years' experience working with 6-8 axis robotic arms
Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date
Preferred
Knowledge of machine, CNC, robotics programming and/or aerospace coating, laser, waterjet, grit blast and deburring applications
Experience and proficiency with FANCU programming along with offline programming. (Robot Studio, RoboGuide, Octopus, NX, Master Cam)
Proficiency with more than one robotic arm, ABB, Yaskawa, FANUC, KUKA, etc
Integration experience with automated systems and their design
Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning systems, specifically SAP
Prior military service or a supply chain management background
Lean Management Training and/or Certification
Positive attitude and the ability to thrive and adapt to advancements in technology
Strong written and oral communication skills
