Clinical Nurse Manager

Responsibilities

In collaboration with the Senior Director, Clinical Practice Operations, manages nursing staff in procedural abortion and sexual reproductive health services
In collaboration with the Senior Director, Clinical Practice Operations and health center operations leadership, develops and implements strategies to enhance clinic efficiency while preserving high-quality patient-centered care
Develops staffing plans and manages nursing and clinical staff schedules, including PTO and coverage for call outs to ensure safe staffing
Assists with direct nursing care responsibilities during high flow work times
Provides direct patient care and coverage for scheduled or unscheduled PTO, as needed
Conducts required emergency medical drills with the procedural abortion team
Actively participates in nurse recruitment and onboarding; conducts regular performance evaluations, develops performance improvement and corrective action plans as needed
Develops and implements onboarding and training plans for new hires and facilitates re-education and training on new services for existing staff, and documents Personal Orientation Plan (POP) sign-off for new hires
In collaboration with the Senior Director of Clinical Practice Operations and the clinical and health center operations leadership teams, participates in the development and updating of PPGNY policies and procedures related to nursing staff and procedural abortion care and sexual reproductive services
Directs the functions of the nursing department in accordance with departmental policies, procedures, standards, and regulatory authorities (i.e., DOH, Article 28, etc.,)
Oversees stocking and preparation of procedural abortion space and clinic spaces, assuring adequate equipment and supplies at par levels
Supports and implements standards in alignment with 1199 union collective bargaining agreement
Communicates and interprets policies and procedures to nursing staff, and monitors staff practices and implementation. The policies and procedures include but are not limited to infection prevention practices, patient safety and quality, and medication management
Attends and participates in required leadership meetings
Demonstrates knowledge of emergency procedures and directs staff in the event of a medical emergency or evacuation
May be required to work in the clinical setting during inclement weather and other staffing emergencies, as needed
May be required to be on call during inclement weather and other staffing emergencies, as needed
Ensures that care provided in the NYC-based procedural abortion services follows the PPGNY Manual of Medical Standards and Guidelines and is compliant with PPGNY policies and procedures and NYS and NYC regulations
Completes all responsibilities according to established protocols, policies and standard practices in the areas of customer service, ADA, and regulatory compliance programs such as HIPAA

Required

Requires satisfactory completion of courses required for graduation from an accredited college or university with a Baccalaureate Degree
Current NYS Nurses License
Current ACLS/BLS certification
Requires previous experience of a minimum of 3-5 years in a nursing role with a minimum of 2 years' experience in sexual and reproductive care
Demonstrate strong customer service skills as they relate to patient care and overall communication
Requires computer proficiency
Excellent communication skills, independent judgment and problem-solving skills are essential
