Responsibilities
Apply incoming payments to client accounts and invoices accurately using the firm’s financial systems
Investigate and resolve unapplied or misapplied payments in coordination with billing attorneys, clients, and the collections team
Oversee and reconcile client trust account transactions in compliance with legal and ethical standards
Partner with the billing and collections teams to ensure alignment on client account status and payment allocations
Support month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring all cash applications are up to date and properly documented
Evaluate process improvement opportunities and contribute to implementing best practices in cash application workflows
Act as a subject matter expert and mentor to junior team members
Qualification
Required
5+ years of cash application experience
Understanding of legal billing, fee arrangements, and client guidelines
Detail-oriented and analytical
Strong sense of accountability and ability to take ownership over projects and responsibilities
Strong organizational and communication skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
Proficient in billing software and e-billing platforms
Preferred
Legal or professional services industry is preferred
