Responsibilities

Patient Plan of Care: With RN direction and supervision, performs patient care activities based on age, need and expectations of the patient

Performs various nursing skills according to established standards based on patient's plan of care and intern's ability/learning needs

Assists patients with activities of daily living

Assists with monitoring patient condition and response to medications, treatments, and therapies; takes relevant actions if any concern/question

Professional Growth: Utilizes the Student Nurse Intern learning experience to enhance and/or develop the knowledge, competence in technical, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills, and the behaviors that are essential to the role of the Registered Nurse

Teamwork: Provides support to other patient care team members by assisting with patient care, associated tasks, and clerical functions

Communication: Uses various tools and techniques to communicate patient care information and enhance interpersonal skills with patients, families, and healthcare team members

Documents in the medical record consistent with guidelines and facility standards

Communicates pertinent clinical data and relevant changes in patient status to RN or other appropriate healthcare team members

Required

H.S. Diploma/GED

Desire to work in the Hospital setting upon completion of nursing school required and continues to acquire and maintain current knowledge and skills in nursing school

Advanced reading, writing and oral skills

Ability to respond appropriately to customer/coworker

Interaction with a wide variety of people

Maintain confidential information

Ability to communicate only the facts to recipients or to decline to reveal information

Ability to project a professional, friendly, helpful demeanor

Ability to utilize PC including, basic elements of Windows environment, keyboarding, work with mouse, and perform basic computer tasks with instruction
