Responsibilities
Directs and supervises program activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives
Establishes new program activities and expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans
Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations
Recruits, hires, trains, manages, develops, coaches, schedules, and directs staff and volunteers as needed
Reviews and evaluates staff performance
Develops strategies to motivate staff
Ensures records of staff certifications are current and complete
Builds relationships with and among members, responds to inquiries and solves problems
Creates a supportive community environment, assists in recruiting and engaging new members, and connects members to the YMCA’s cause
Plans and manages department budgets as approved in a fiscally responsible manner
Works with appropriate branch staff to provide program facilities for members that are clean, adequately equipped, well maintained, and attractive
Builds and develops volunteer capacity, sharing the social responsibility
Assists in YMCA fund raising activities/events and engages in collaborative relationships with community organizations in order to strengthen support and build community
Reinforces YMCA values within the organization and community and develops strategies to ensure staff and volunteers reflect it
Builds partnerships and collaborations; communicates for influence to attain buy-in and support for goals
Assigns clear accountability, ensures execution of plans, secures resources and support for philanthropic endeavors
Anticipates challenges that can delay personal growth, fosters a learning environment embracing diverse abilities and approaches, and creates a sense of urgency and positive tension to support change
Qualification
Required
ACSM or ACE certified is required
Effective teaching skills, the ability to deliver excellent customer service, and a high level of enthusiasm are required
The ability to develop positive, effective working relationships with staff, parents, volunteers, community partners, and members are critical to this position
Excellent communication skills
Technically proficient with the Microsoft office suite
Demonstrated knowledge and ability in fitness programming for members of all levels and abilities
Preferred
Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science or related field is preferred
