Surgical Scheduling Coordinator I - Orthopedics
Mount Sinai Health System is one of the largest academic medical systems in the New York metro area, and they are seeking a Surgical Scheduling Coordinator I for their Orthopedics department. The role involves scheduling surgeries and procedures, obtaining pre-authorizations, and serving as a liaison between physicians and patients.

Responsibilities
Responsible for the coordination of all OR surgeries and procedures
Verifies patient demographics and obtains pre-certification from insurance carriers for all O surgeries and procedures
Records hospital reservation and pre-admit data in prevailing institutional system
Arranges patient pre-testing with appropriate departments and is responsible for obtaining patient medical clearance
May place surgical confirmation calls in advance of scheduled surgery or procedure date
Serves as a liaison between referring physicians and surgeons for the communication of clinical data and to determine OR scheduling, etc
Collects and distributes appropriate paperwork to internal and external parties to coordinate surgeries
Schedules post-operative follow-up visits with providers
Performs other related duties
Qualification
Required
High School diploma
2 years of surgical scheduling experience
Preferred
Associates Degree preferred
Certificate in Medical Terminology preferred
Certificate in ICD-9 and CPT Coding preferred
