ReWA is an organization focused on family empowerment services, and they are seeking an ESL Assistant & Digital Literacy Instructor. The role involves designing and implementing digital literacy curriculum for ESL students, providing instruction, and assisting with assessments to promote student progress.

Responsibilities

Work together with ESL teachers to design and deliver lessons that integrate digital literacy and ESL skills

Provide small group instruction for digital literacy and ESL

Maintain, adapt and continue developing ReWA Digital Literacy curriculum

Track students’ digital skill gains

Support laptop library use - provide basic DL training to students, manage student lending agreements and troubleshoot issues

Develop and maintain a Digital Literacy Skills Checklist to assess students’ starting levels, track progress, and provide a clear pathway for demonstrating “test-out” competency

Conduct pre- and post ESL assessment testing to determine level gains and academic needs

Substitute ESL instructors when they are absent or on a vacation

Maintain a safe, respectful and engaging environment for students

Attend program and staff meetings and training as needed

Track student attendance and provide daily attendance reports for ESL and digital literacy students

Collaborate and work closely with employment case managers to promote student employment

Assist with training and overseeing volunteer tutors

Maintain student documents and communication to support all aspects of the program including periodic reports and updating student files

Be familiar with the services ReWA provides and refer students when necessary

Write and submit student success stories

Other related duties as assigned by program supervisor and coordinator

Required

BA degree in teaching, education

TESOL/TEFL certification

Two years demonstrated experience in teaching multi-level ESL classes or digital literacy skills, and creating lesson plans

Knowledgeable about teaching computer skills in a classroom setting

Highly positive with enthusiastic style capable of motivating students

Proactive in implementing new ideas to programs to support students

Ability to work as an effective team member in a multicultural organization

Knowledge of key computer applications

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Must be self-starter, work independently and dependable with strong problem-solving skills and good judgment

Reliable transportation

Willingness to adhere to established program performance standards requiring productivity, personal responsibility, a client/customer service orientation, and the maintenance of a professional demeanor

Must be flexible to work different shifts including mornings, afternoons and evening
