Responsibilities
Assess credit risk to ensure profitable underwriting, analyze annual and internal financial statements, and review other relevant credit information for new and existing accounts
Drive new business flow with assigned agents
Maintain current underwriting files in accordance with the Swiss Re Surety Group Procedure Manual for Commercial Surety
Enhance existing agency relationships and identify new agency relationships
Establish a consistent visibility plan which would include agency visits, account meetings, and industry events
Contribute to the business unit's annual financial goals
Maintain a strong working relationship with Claims, Legal, Operations, and Accounting departments
Assist the Regional Manager in developing one-to-three-year regional strategic plan
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree with emphasis in business, preferably finance or accounting, or the following years of relevant experience in commercial surety underwriting
7-10 years to be considered for Senior Underwriter level (VP Level)
3-6 years to be considered for Underwriter level (AVP Level)
Strong marketing and interpersonal skills
Strong competency in quantitative and financial analysis
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Competent computer skills including knowledge of Excel and Word
Ability to travel up to 35%
