Senior Structural Engineer
Thomas & Hutton is a growing, well-established civil engineering firm providing consulting services throughout the southeast. They are seeking a motivated and driven licensed Senior Structural Engineer to be involved with the design and construction administration of various structures for both internal and external clients.
Responsibilities
Perform structural design & analysis, prepare reports, perform condition assessments, prepare construction plans & specifications
Mentor engineers and designers
Lead the technical development program for the department
Lead and coordinated the Revit development program for the department
Communicate with department staff and manage workload
Coordinated between the structural department and other disciplines
Support proposal preparation: assist with development of the scope of work, schedule and budget
Work on multiple projects simultaneously
Assist with the preparation of opinions of cost
Prepare and review drawings prepared using AutoCAD and Revit
Manage technical quality control review process within the department
Perform field work for condition assessments for a variety of structures
Perform construction administration and oversight, reviewing submittals, responding to contractor’s questions and visiting job sites
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
US Professional Engineering License required in at least one state (these are preferred states: SC, GA, NC, or TN or NCEES for reciprocity)
Minimum of 15+ years' experience in design of structures
Ability to work a regular schedule of 7:30AM to 5:30PM Mondays – Thursdays, 7:30am to 11:30AM on Fridays, and occasionally at night and on the weekends
Excellent written and verbal communication in English
Ability to mentor PEs and EITs
Ability to manage assigned projects, including workload, resources, deadlines, and budgets
Ability to interact with clients and contractors
Experience designing a variety of structures, using a variety of materials
Fluency with finite element modeling (primarily RISA and SAP2000), design programs and hand calculations
Ability to use Mathcad to produce calculations
Ability to use AutoCAD Civil 3D and Revit to produce drawings
Proven ability to multi-task, appropriately prioritize workflow and complete tasks within budget
Ability to perform construction services for structural projects and work with contractors
Ability to perform field work for assessments and construction observation in a variety of environments
Ability to solve problems and evaluate a variety of options
