Responsibilities
Collaborate with underwriters to assess risks associated with insurance submissions, including reviewing underwriting data, loss history, and other relevant information
Contribute to the determination of the acceptability of risks and appropriate coverage
Analyze insurance policies to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with underwriting guidelines
Assist in reviewing policy terms, conditions, and coverage options to support decision-making
Engage with clients to gather additional information about insurance submissions, address inquiries, and provide support
Collaborate with underwriters to assess client risks and insurance requirements
Maintain organized and accessible records related to underwriting activities, client information, and policy documentation
Ensure the accurate and efficient processing of underwriting files
Assist in coordinating operational processes related to underwriting, including policy issuance, endorsements, renewals, and reporting
Collaborate with internal departments to ensure the efficient execution of underwriting tasks
Qualification
Required
Prior experience in an assistant underwriter role or relevant experience in the insurance industry is typically preferred for Associate Underwriter positions
A valid insurance license, as required by state regulations, may be necessary
Strong analytical skills for risk assessment and policy evaluation
Attention to detail and accuracy in underwriting documentation
Proficiency in office software, including word processing and spreadsheet applications
Effective communication skills for client interactions and collaboration with underwriters
Ability to adapt to the dynamic insurance environment and contribute to the maintenance of underwriting standards
A bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Insurance, or a related field is typically preferred for Associate Underwriter positions
