Intern - Informatics (Summer)
The State of South Dakota is seeking an Informatics Intern for the summer session. The intern will work with the Department of Health's Division of Disease Protection and Control to maintain and enhance the electronic disease surveillance system, while gaining experience in disease surveillance data, electronic case reporting, and data visualization.

Responsibilities
Learn about disease surveillance data and reporting
Learn about electronic case reporting (eCR), how DPC uses electronic case data, and advance processes for working with the data
Assist with mapping of eCR data elements into the electronic disease surveillance system
Assist with updating python scripts to import data elements into the electronic disease surveillance system and process documentation
Learn about data visualization by using dashboards
Qualification
Required
APPLICANT MUST BE A CURRENT PART-TIME OR FULL-TIME STUDENT (MINIMUM OF 6 CREDIT HOURS) IN UPCOMING SEMESTER OR IN THE IMMEDIATELY PRECEDING SEMESTER
Applicant must be enrolled as a part-time/full-time student at a college, university, or technical institute at the time they apply
By the start of the internship, the student should have completed one year (nine months) of their chosen program
Preferred
Preference may be given to applicants with a standing of junior/senior
Preference may be given to South Dakota residents
Preference may be given to students of South Dakota institutions
