The successful candidate will contribute to Smart City technology development and research, focusing on the implementation of the VCU Open Cyber City Testbed.

Responsibilities
Develop and expand upon a diversified technical skill set while making a positive contribution to the development of Smart City technology and the implementation of the VCU Open Cyber City Testbed
Participate and supervise the addition of additional hardware and software systems for the Open Cyber City Testbed
Conduct research in Smart City technology and Intelligent Transportation Systems
Apply Machine Learning and data mining and analysis to research problems in this area
Mentor junior team members and ensure the highest levels of laboratory safety
Qualification
Required
Ph.D. in Computer Engineering or Computer Science
Experience in software and hardware development, implementation, and testing for embedded systems in multiple languages such as C++, Python, and Java
Experience in using data analytics, simulation tools, and hardware/software prototypes to analyze problems and solutions in CPS, IoT, and Smart Cities
Ability to mentor junior team members, and ensure the highest levels of laboratory safety
Excellent communication skills
Demonstrated ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams
Ability to work under tight deadlines and short turnaround times
Demonstrated experience working in and fostering an environment of respect, professionalism, and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from various backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a postdoc at VCU
Preferred
Experience in exploring and analyzing data (applied statistics)
A broad understanding of different machine learning technologies
Experience using cloud computing for machine learning and deep learning frameworks
