Sr UI Architect
GE Vernova is focused on developing innovative solutions for the electric utility industry, and they are seeking a Senior UI Architect to lead the technical and architectural direction of their GridOS Design System platform team. Responsibilities
Define and champion the UI architecture for web-based and mobile apps for the electric utility industry
Be responsible for providing technical and architectural leadership; defining, developing, and evolving software in a fast paced and agile development environment – with a special focus on composable UIs, micro-frontends, and design system integration
Build and maintain core UI frameworks and component libraries (Angular)
Partner with backend and Data Fabric teams to optimize GraphQL API consumption from a UI perspective that ensures scalability and performance
Provide guidance to developers with either planning and execution and/or design architecture using agile methodologies such as SCRUM
Drive increased efficiency across the teams, eliminating duplication, leveraging product and technology reuse
Capture system level requirements and develop end-to-end architecture from a UI perspective by brainstorming with CTO, Sr. Architects, UX Researchers, Businesses & Product Managers
Evaluate, recommend, and introduce next-generation UI technologies aligned to business goal. Leads impact assessment, needed PoCs, design /architectural considerations and implementation strategy
Prototype new architectures and frameworks to validate technical feasibility
Subject matter expert in processes and methodologies with ability to adapt and improvise in various situations. Expert in navigating through ambiguity and prioritizing conflicting asks
Expert level skills in design, architecture and development, with an ability to document and diagram architectural decisions and direction while taking a deep dive of the implementation and adoption aspects
Leads the architecture and design efforts across integration of various products that blend into a single and delightful user experience for end users
Establish UI design patterns, coding standards, contribution and governance models
Partner with application teams to guide architectural decisions, code reviews, and best practices
Work closely with UX designers to ensure seamless integration between design and implementation
Mentor engineers on UI architecture, performance, and responsive design techniques
Identify and resolve UI performance bottlenecks across devices and browsers
Implement strategies for lazy evaluation, lazy loading, code splitting, caching, and asset optimization
Ensure WCAG compliance and accessibility standards are met
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or 'STEM' Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) with minimum 10 years of experience
Expertise in OO Design, Development, and Design Patterns
Strong proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, Angular, React.js, React Native (or similar frameworks)
Proven experience with micro-frontend architecture and composable UI patterns
Expertise in responsive design, cross-browser compatibility, and mobile-first development
Hands-on experience integrating GraphQL with front-end frameworks
Understanding of design systems and scalable component library management
Strong grasp of performance tuning techniques for web/mobile applications
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, containerized deployments, and cloud environments
Excellent communication, leadership, and collaboration skills
Experience with Next.js, Webpack Module Federation, or similar bundling strategies
Knowledge of server-side rendering (SSR) and static site generation (SSG) approaches
Familiarity with state management solutions like Redux, Recoil, or Zustand
Experience in platform-level UI component delivery for multiple application teams
Knowledgeable about developments in UX in various contexts, businesses, and industries
Evaluates technology to drive features and roadmaps
Balances value propositions for competing stakeholders
Influences through others; builds direct and 'behind the scenes' support for ideas
Able to effectively direct and mentor others in critical thinking skills
Innovates and integrates new processes and/or technology to significantly add value to GE Vernova
Proactively learns new solutions and processes to address seemingly unanswerable problems
