Responsibilities
Oversees professional staff
Directs operational policy
Advises the Executive Director and the State Mineral and Energy Board on geoscientific, engineering, and valuation matters
Manages bid and lease sale evaluations
Supports enforcement and compliance proceedings
Creates policy and guidelines for acquisition and use of state-owned energy resources
Regularly engages with private operators, attorneys, other state and federal agencies, and the regulated community
Qualification
Required
A bachelor's degree in petroleum engineering, geology, geophysics, natural resource management, or a closely related technical field
At least five (5) years of professional experience in the oil and gas exploration and production, energy policy, energy project development, or a closely related field, with at least three (3) years of supervisory experience leading technical teams
Strong written and verbal communication skills, particularly with executive audiences, legal counsel, and external stakeholders
Preferred
Demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following categories is preferred: geoscience, energy-related project development and due diligence, subsurface evaluations, lease administration and management, and state/federal mineral leasing regulations
Professional licensure (e.g., Licensed Professional Geoscientist or Engineer) is strongly preferred
