Lead Application Engineer

Responsibilities
Application Engineering responsibility for the Power Conversion General Industrial, Oil & Gas solution portfolio in terms of developing technical solutions for large Medium Voltage Variable Frequency Drive Systems up to 80MW, large Static Frequency Converters of 100MVA+, large STATCOMs of 100MVAr+ along with eBOPs like MV Switchgear, Converter transformers, E-Houses, air-coolers, chillers etc as a holistic (integrated) system
Evaluate the customer RFP specifications received, develop technical solutions that is risk mitigated, prepare detailed technical proposal, discuss and sign-off the technical solution with customer
Work on the MV VFD/SFC/STATCOM and Converter transformer sizing calculations to determine the ratings based on the application requirements in the customer RFP specifications
Prepare detailed RFQ specifications for individual equipment like VFD/SFC/STATCOM, Motors, Converter Transformers, E-Houses, MV Switchgear and other eBOPs
Perform bid evaluation on various quotations received, align technically as needed for the bid, and perform costing exercise in partnership with sourcing counterpart
Work with engineering and project teams to identify technical/project risks and devise/implement a risk mitigation plan, present it and secure sign off by the Chief Engineer’s office
Value sell GEV Power Conversion’s technical solutions to customers in key segments including but not limited to test systems, mining, metals, power, Oil & Gas. Support customer meetings with technical product differentiators
Support the GEV commercial risk process & all aspects of the Inquiry to Order process
Work with 3rd party industrial partners to enhance growth opportunities and leverage win-win technology
Work to optimize technical solutions by means of Design To Cost (DTC) and enhance as sold margins for the business
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (or) Electrical and Electronics Engineering
Minimum of 5 years technical experience with a major Power Conversion industry OEM on large water-cooled Variable Frequency Drive Systems >10MW with large complex applications in the Industrial/Oil & Gas segment
Willingness to travel domestically within country and abroad as needed by the business (up to 30% of time)
Preferred
Strong track record of working with cross-functional teams
Well-rounded business acumen – commercial, technical and program execution skills
Knowledge of various power conversion solutions available in the market across various industries
Master's degree in Power Electronics Engineering is desirable but not mandatory for candidates with the right technical experience
Strong time management skills
Customer-focused mindset with proven ability to respond quickly to customer needs
Strong coordination and influencing skills
Knowledge of customer financial drivers / needs
Ability to utilize analytical software and sales tools (CMS, Excel, etc.)
Strong oral and written communication skills
