BARI Chief Strategist

Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive academic, research, and analytical support to the Institute Director, executive committee, external advisory board, and affiliated faculty
Carry out the specific aims and milestones for the Institute
Develop and expand core technologies, infrastructure, and bioinformatics
Provide collaborative research, core services, data analysis, and shared equipment
Host an annual symposium
Develop training programs
Release calls for research funding proposals
Facilitate training of graduate students, postdoctoral scholars, fellows and faculty

Required

Advanced degree in related area and three years of related experience in science of aging and/ or equivalent experience / training required
Academic background and experience in selected area of research
Strong oral and written communication skills
Strong ability to think creatively and independently on concepts requiring advanced analytical skills
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse groups to achieve results
Strong ability to work collaboratively with internal and external peers and managers
Solid fundraising experience
Advanced computer skills (MS Office, including Word, Access, Excel, and PowerPoint), Outlook, email
Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks; ability to meet deadlines and follow through on assigned duties; ability to work well under pressure; ability to maintain a service-oriented approach

Preferred

Terminal degree in a related area (PhD, JD, MD, etc.) and / or equivalent experience / training preferred
Thorough knowledge of administrative, budgetary, human resources and financial principles and practices
Prior UCSF experience, with knowledge of HR-SRS, MyReports, MyExpense, BearBuy
Familiarity with project management software
