Responsibilities

Designs a variety of roadway projects in accordance with ALDOT and/or local municipal guidelines and standards

Collaborates with project team members, client representatives, review agencies to resolve a variety of complex problem

Supervises the work of other engineers and/or technical support personnel assigned to the project

Prepares and reviews technical reports, drawings, plans, specifications, and permits for projects

Utilizes engineering software such as MicroStation and InRoads/OpenRoads

Prepares cost estimates for assigned projects

Conducts project site visits, as needed

Demonstrates strong attention to detail

Demonstrates strong organizational and time management skills; Works independently on multiple tasks without immediate supervision

Builds and maintains excellent interpersonal relationships

Demonstrates working knowledge of Alabama Department of Transportation systems, policies, and procedures

Understands standard operations, policies and procedures of a firm, preferably within the A/E industry

Performs other duties as requested

Qualification

Required

Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology from an accredited program

Minimum of 6 years of roadway design experience

Professional Engineer (PE) license in AL or an ability to obtain PE in AL within 6 months of start date is required

Experience using MicroStation V8i or OpenRoads is required

Working knowledge of the practical application of engineering principles, practices and techniques, including AASHTO guidelines

Skill using Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel

Demonstrates strong attention to detail

Demonstrates strong organizational and time management skills; Works independently on multiple tasks without immediate supervision

Builds and maintains excellent interpersonal relationships

Demonstrates working knowledge of Alabama Department of Transportation systems, policies, and procedures

Understands standard operations, policies and procedures of a firm, preferably within the A/E industry

Preferred

Alabama Department of Transportation project experience is desired
