Postdoctoral Fellow - Neurology - Obeid Epilepsy Lab

Responsibilities

Test research hypotheses in rodent seizure models and cell cultures
Utilize molecular and cell biology techniques
Investigate the mechanisms of seizure emergence and their effects on cognitive and behavioral neurodevelopment in rodent seizure models
Identify molecular targets for novel treatment strategies
Independently plan and conduct experiments under the guidance of the PI
Collect and analyze data, summarize findings, and participate/assist in the preparation of scientific manuscripts, abstracts, posters, and possibly grants
Train lab personnel, participate in laboratory and equipment maintenance, and order supplies as needed
Perform literature review, update research protocols and design, and potentially develop new ideas that serve the research goals set by the PI

Required

A doctorate or terminal degree
Practical experience with molecular and cellular biology techniques, such as tissue cultures, western blotting, genetic manipulation (knock down, knockout, and overexpression)
Peer-reviewed publications
Excellent English speaking and writing skills

Preferred

Experience in neuroscience research
Experience in epilepsy
Experience in animal handling
Experience in behavioral testing
Highly motivated recent graduates with a record that demonstrates scientific independence, creativity, initiative, and career motivation
