Senior Capital Project Manager

The County of Sonoma is seeking a Senior Capital Project Manager to join Sonoma Public Infrastructure (SPI) and lead the Capital Projects team. This role involves overseeing capital improvement projects, managing budgets and contracts, and ensuring project delivery aligns with strategic goals and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

Supervising and leading staff to optimize team dynamics to build a motivated and high performing team, including performance management, assignment of projects, and balancing workloads through the consideration of staff strengths and areas of expertise
Monitoring required levels of productivity for reimbursable staff
Advising staff of potential risks to execution and when to take corrective action
Ensuring projects comply with applicable laws, codes, regulations, and policies
Providing consultation on design and construction issues, accessibility standards, means and methods of construction, cost estimating, contract management, and procurement processes
Recommending and implementing process improvements to project management

Required

Possession of a current, valid certificate of registration as an Architect or Engineer issued by the State of California
Possession of a Certified Construction Manager credential accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and issued by the Construction Management Association of America's (CMAA) Construction Management Institute
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a degree in architecture, engineering, or construction management
Five years of experience as a professional architect, engineer, or construction manager with increasing responsibility for managing major commercial, institutional, and industrial design and construction projects
Experience with facility planning, preparation of cost estimates, and schedules, budget and schedule management, and the preparation or management of the preparation of construction plans and specifications, bidding management, and construction management
Experience with lead or general supervision of subordinate staff
Possession of a valid driver's license at the appropriate level including special endorsements, as required by the State of California

Preferred

A Master's degree in a related field
Experience with project management for a mid-size public agency
