Instructor, Power Plant Engineering (Part-Time)

Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC) is Wisconsin's largest and most diverse technical college, offering a variety of programs to connect students to careers. They are seeking a part-time Instructor for Power Plant Engineering who will prepare and deliver instruction, manage the classroom, develop curriculum, and assess student performance.

Responsibilities

Prepare for and deliver instruction and perform teaching-related activities
Manage the classroom/laboratory
Develop curriculum and monitor and revise as appropriate to maintain course effectiveness; assist in program evaluation
Manage equipment, supplies and materials
Assess student performance and advise students on academic issues
Collaborate with the advisory committee in the program area
Attend departmental and institutional meetings
Promote the education/training program, participate in efforts to recruit and retain students, and participate in efforts to market MATC
Support student organizations and activities
Develop relationships with business and industry
Complete program evaluation and follow-up
Maintain certification, continue professional development and stay current in the field
Perform other duties as assigned

Required

Requires a Technical Diploma, or higher, in Power Plant Engineering or a related field which includes Stationary Engineering and/or Industrial Maintenance with a minimum of at least five (5) years or equivalent (10,000 hours) of relevant work experience as a Stationary Engineer, Boiler Operators, or in Industrial Maintenance
High School diploma AND an American Society of Power Engineer (ASOPE) Facility Operating Second Class License or higher with a minimum of at least seven (7) years or equivalent (14,000 hours) of relevant work experience as a Stationary Engineer, Boiler Operators, or in Industrial Maintenance
At least two (2) years of the relevant experience must have occurred in the last five years
At least two (2) of the relevant experience has been teaching Stationary Engineering or Boiler Operator coursework at a post-secondary level in the last five years
ASOPE or higher with both the High School and/or Technical Diploma
Must embrace and demonstrate Standards of Teaching Excellence and the MATC Career Essentials in development and delivery of instruction
Email - Experience with an Email system (Gmail, Outlook)
Telephone - Experience with a voice mail system
Computer - Experience with Microsoft Office Suite/Google
Experience with or willingness to learn the following supportive technologies: Online Information Management Systems - Experience with Self-Service or other online information management systems used for student advising, student programs, grading, class schedules and rosters
Experience with Blackboard or other web-based course - management systems
Experience with technology-based instructional delivery systems including SMART symposium, interactive touch screen monitors, LCD projectors, DVD players and/or other classroom technology
Experience with emerging technologies (eg. social networking applications)

SICK LEAVE BENEFITS: Sick leave is earned based on one times the weekly workload per semester.
VACATION BENEFITS: Vacation is earned based on the length of service and hours worked each pay period. (Not available for Instructors)
PAID HOLIDAYS: MATC offers paid/flex holidays based on position.
