Responsibilities

Follow both written and electronic work instructions, job aids, checklists and standard procedures
Report issues, discrepancies or uncertainties to supervisor and engineering
Delicately handle and clean optical surfaces utilizing a variety of chemical and mechanical means
Inspect optics to ensure surface cleanliness and complete removal of all residue and particulate contamination prior to coating
Learn and perform all aspects of vacuum coating chamber preparations and operations to include cleaning, foiling, sandblasting, and installing of system components and chemicals for deposition
Load optics into designated tooling or fixtures in preparation for coating
Operate, monitor, and record critical parameters of coating deposition during thin film production
Unload coated optics and re-inspect for quality and to assure that no physical damage has occurred
Prevent or correct deficiencies in surface quality and workmanship
Work with maintenance, engineering, quality and operations teams to execute daily work
Complete required training on time and with proficiency as required

Required

High School Diploma / GED or equivalent related experience
Minimum of 2 years of optics, coating, cleanroom, deposition/thin film experience highly preferred
Experience in an aerospace/semiconductor/manufacturing environment highly preferred
Ability to clean, handle and inspect fragile and delicate components with care
Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow verbal directions and written procedures
Effective communication and collaboration amongst peers and with direct supervisor
Flexibility to adapt to changing production schedule/assignments/demands and priorities
Requires standing for extended periods of time
Moderate noise level
Frequently exposed to fumes, solvents, airborne particles where PPE is required
Occasionally exposed to acids and/or caustic chemicals where appropriate PPE is required
The employee will frequently need to be able to lift up to 5-25lbs during routine work with or without assistance
Clean room protocols and PPE will be necessary to work in this position
All employees are required to follow the site EHS procedures and Coherent Corp. Corporate EHS standards
Depending on location, this position may be responsible for the execution and maintenance of the ISO 9000, 9001, 14001 and/or other applicable standards that may apply to the relevant roles and responsibilities within the Quality Management System and Environmental Management System
To conform to U.S. Government export regulations (ITAR), applicant must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8. U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State
