Engineering Manager, Fire Suppression Development

The Manager, Fire Suppression Development will lead engineering and development teams in the design, testing, and application of innovative fire suppression systems, focusing on special hazards technologies and ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Responsibilities

Oversees the design and development of special hazard fire suppression technologies, including water mist and inert gas based suppressants
Leads and develops a team of engineers, designers, and technicians
Manages multiple projects in alignment with technical and commercial strategy and priorities
Manages cross-functional teams to effectively develop, test, and deploy new products and product applications
Coordinates with other functional departments to support effective new product deployment
Ensures compliance with all relevant codes, standards (NFPA, UL, FM), regulations, and established Fike engineering and business processes and practices
Actively participates in the development and revision of applicable fire protection standards (NFPA, UL, FM, etc.)
Engages with customers to understand fire protection needs, provide tailored solutions, and serve as a technical consultant for product applications and problem resolution
Drives improvements in development processes to enhance efficiency, quality, and safety
Ensures compliance with Fike policies and procedures
Maintains the confidentiality of all information processed

Required

Bachelor's degree in engineering, technical, or scientific discipline
Eight years post-degree experience with at least two years of supervisory and project management experience in a mechanical product development environment

Preferred

Advanced technical or management degree
Hands-on experience developing mechanical / electro-mechanical components and systems in a 3rd party approval environment
Experience with fire protection or flow control equipment and/or applicable US and international codes and standards
