Mechanical Equipment Designer

Merrick & Company is looking for a Mechanical Equipment Designer to join their Nuclear Services & Technology Business Unit in Aiken, SC. The role involves producing 3D models, drawings, and fabrication packages of custom equipment while organizing small teams and ensuring adherence to quality assurance procedures.

Responsibilities

Produce 3D models, drawings, and fabrication packages of custom equipment
Work independently and with direction from the project engineer
Prepare component, subassembly, and main assembly Creo (Pro/E) models
Create detailed fabrication drawing packages
Evaluate and select purchased components
Create detailed Bills of Materials and complete equipment datasheets
Establish model structure and drawing tree architecture for distinct deliverables
Establish and maintain file naming conventions and Windchill folders
Direct the activities of less experienced team members to produce final product
Provide checking support for deliverables

Qualification

Creo (Pro/E)WindchillCustom equipment design3D modelingAutoCADMicrosoft Office SuiteHands-on equipment experience

Required

Minimum of zero (0) to four (4) years' experience in related field
Must demonstrate expert proficiency with Creo (Pro/E) and Windchill
Familiarity with other 3D systems (CATIA, SolidWorks or equal)
Demonstrated capability in the design of custom equipment and/or containment systems, development of design documentation including fabrication drawings, equipment datasheets and design record documents
Must have the ability to acquire a security clearance
Client projects for this position require US Citizenship

Preferred

Associates Degree
2D software (AutoCAD) and Autodesk Revit
Microsoft Office Suite
Experience in the DOE and DOD market segments
Hands-on experience with our typical equipment
Local candidate preferred
