Manager, Manufacturing Engineering, Battery Joining Development
Tesla is looking to hire a Manufacturing Engineering Manager to contribute to the development of structural joining, bonding and forming processes for their cutting-edge battery products. The role involves leading a high-performing team and driving technological advancements in battery manufacturing processes while addressing challenges related to battery cost and performance.

Responsibilities
Lead a Manufacturing Engineering team specializing in structural process and technology development, overseeing team delivery and continuous domain support
Evaluate candidate structural manufacturing strategies for new battery products
Perform proof-of-concept to green light novel methods, technologies, and suppliers
Guide cross-functional selection of optimal process strategies and product interface definitions
Rigorous process and equipment development to achieve capability, performance, and quality targets
Process optimization and validation of each application through initial builds. Support release to production
Establish standards and support downstream factory process launch and improvement projects
Qualification
Required
7+ years of engineering or equivalent experience
Progressive personnel leadership experience in a technical discipline
Demonstrated expertise in the data-driven development and implementation of high-volume structural manufacturing methods including product interfaces, materials, processes, and equipment (at least one, multiple preferred): adhesives, potting, sealants, form-in-place gaskets, curing, fastening, riveting, clinching, pressing, hemming, welding, molding, casting, other
Degree in Engineering, Physics, Material Science, or equivalent experience
Preferred
Simulation (CFD, Finite Elements) experience a plus
