Responsibilities
Comprehensive Equipment Maintenance: Execute thorough maintenance, inspection, and repair of underground mining machinery, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal operational efficiency
Advanced Diagnostic Analysis: Utilize sophisticated diagnostic tools to identify and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical system issues with accuracy
Field Service Expertise: Travel to underground mining sites to perform on-site repairs, timely component replacements, and system adjustments to maintain continuous production flow
Quality Assurance Testing: Conduct rigorous post-repair testing protocols to verify equipment performance meets or exceeds manufacturer and safety standards
Technical Documentation Utilization: Interpret and work from detailed schematics and technical manuals, particularly for low voltage control systems, ensuring precise and effective repairs
Mechanical Alignment: Align and calibrate motor couplings, transfer cases, gearboxes, and related assemblies to manufacturer specifications to prevent equipment failure and extend operational life
Safety and Compliance: Adhere rigorously to all safety protocols and regulatory requirements applicable to underground environments and equipment handling
Collaboration and Communication: Coordinate effectively with supervisors, engineers, and other service technicians to report findings, recommend solutions, and support continuous improvement efforts
Qualification
Required
Minimum of two years' practical experience in underground or heavy equipment service roles, demonstrating a solid understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical system repair and maintenance
Completion of an accredited apprenticeship program or one year of post-secondary technical education in a related field, providing a solid foundation in machinery diagnostics and repair
Strong skills in troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining complex machinery with an emphasis on reliability and safety
Ability to work in demanding underground conditions including limited visibility and confined spaces, while maintaining focus and adherence to safety practices
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and safety documents; communicate clearly with team members and supervisors
Willingness to engage in ongoing training and certification programs to keep technical skills current with evolving industry standards and equipment technologies
Preferred
Prior exposure to underground mining environments is highly desirable to ensure familiarity with the unique challenges and safety protocols
