COMMUNITY PROGRAMS SPECIALIST
USAJOBS is seeking a Community Programs Specialist to serve as the Headquarters United States Central Command (HQ USCENTCOM) Community and Family Readiness Program Coordinator. The role involves planning, managing, and directing community programs and activities to enhance unit cohesion, resiliency, and readiness for the Total Force.

Responsibilities
Plans, develops, markets, and executes diversified, innovative, needs-based social, cultural, USCENTCOM-wide special events, community programs and unit cohesion activities to support authorized users of MacDill and HQ USCENTCOM facilities and programs
Develops plans and coordinates with other agencies to execute programs, community activities, special events, and networked plans to maximize resources
Writes professional proposals for use in attracting and establishing mutually beneficial cooperative agreements with community and installation partners
Plans, establishes, conducts and maintains HQ USCENTCOM Staff and Family Readiness Coordinators Training and Management tasks

If authorized, PCS will be paid IAW JTR and AF Regulations. If receiving an authorized PCS, you may be subject to completing/signing a CONUS agreement
This posn is subject to provisions of the DoD Priority Placement Program
Disclosure of Political Appointments
May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours; weekend duty and uncommon tours of duty
Emergency overtime may be required
May be required to travel by military or commercial aircraft in the performance of temporary duty assignments
The employee must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret, non-critical sensitive security clearance
A break in service of 3 or more calendar days may be required for permanent federal internal and transfer employees
This is term position NTE 13 months
Limited area of consideration to Department-Wide (DoD) Candidate only. Applicants must be a current DoD employee to be eligible
Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-09, or equivalent in other pay systems
Successfully completed a Ph.D or equivalent graduate degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position
A combination of specialized experience and education may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%
Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-09 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-11 level
Knowledge of business operations policies, procedures, methods, and publicity techniques within one or more of the following areas: military recreation; morale, welfare, and recreation business operations; and/or community wide event planning to evaluate strengths or weaknesses and develop/revise programs to meet goals and promote patronage
Knowledge of and ability to apply the various methods, techniques and procedures for publicizing programs and activities through all available media and social media (TV, radio, newspapers, flyers/brochures, Facebook)
Skills in developing, implementing and managing a wide range of recreational and support programs, services and community activities
Skill in preparing and presenting initial training, briefings and presentations; ability to develop course material for briefings and training materials for a variety of audiences and possess skill in dealing with customers and the public
Ability to plan, conducts and analyzes simple survey techniques and understands, interprets, evaluates and presents data
Ability to manage a small staff and carry out all phases of personnel management responsibilities
Preferred
Experience with supportive and recreational programs highly desirable
