Transportation Engineer

Merrick & Company is seeking a licensed Transportation Engineer to join their Tampa Office. The successful candidate will design and plan transportation infrastructure, analyze traffic patterns, and ensure compliance with safety standards for highway and roadway improvement projects.

Responsibilities

Design and plan transportation infrastructure such as roads, highways, bridges, and transit systems
Analyze traffic patterns and transportation data to identify areas for improvement
Conduct environmental impact assessments for proposed projects
Develop and implement traffic management and safety plans
Prepare engineering plans, specifications, and cost estimates
Collaborate with urban planners, architects, and government agencies
Perform site inspections to ensure compliance with design and safety standards
Use modeling and simulation software to predict traffic flow and system performance
Ensure transportation systems meet accessibility standards for all users
Oversee construction projects and coordinate with contractors and stakeholders Assist with the coordination, development and production of proposals, and presentations, ensuring the highest quality of information and documentation output

Qualification

Florida Professional Engineers LicenseTransportation engineering experienceMicroStationBentley OpenRoads DesignerCivil engineering experienceTraffic management planningCommunication skillsDetail orientedTeamwork

Required

Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an accredited college/university
6 years' experience in civil engineering with 2+ years specializing in transportation engineering
Florida Professional Engineers License
Self-starter with strong oral and written communication skills
Detail oriented, proactive individual who takes ownership of their work
Proficiency in the following software: Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project), MicroStation - using latest FDOT CADD requirements, GEOPAK, GuideSIGN, AutoTURN
Candidates must be familiar with FDOT design project delivery

Preferred

Experience with Bentley OpenRoads Designer (3D modeling)
Candidates outside of the Tampa area will be required to relocate
Ability to work well in team environment
