Responsibilities

Restocks automated dispensing machines (ADSs) and floor stock medications. Follows relevant Epic workflows including but not limited to loading medications, dispensing doses, dispense tracking, and fulfilling cart fill items
Delivers all medication in compliance with all DEA, DPH & State Board of Pharmacy regulations
Prepares and delivers IV medications in accordance with Federal USP 797 & USP 800 standards. Maintains records pertaining to IV admixtures, maintains cleanliness in sterile areas, and completes relevant Quality Assurance processes
Compounds non-sterile products and repackages bulk supplies of medications in unit of use packaging in accordance with all Federal USP 795 & USP 800 standards
Checks for expired medications within the pharmacy & automated dispensing cabinets. Ensures that all expired/damaged medications are disposed of in accordance with RCRA, OSHA & NIOSH regulations
Participates in the continued training of and provides mentorship to students and pharmacy technicians
Prepares specialized sterile and/or non-sterile products including TPNs, neonatal, hazardous, and chemotherapeutic & study medications in accordance with Federal USP 797, USP 795, and USP 800 standards
Suggests workflow efficiencies and works with the Technician III staff and Lead technicians to help implement new practices
Maintain staffing in two or more areas of the pharmacy

Required

High School diploma or GED required
Pharmacy Technician (Massachusetts) - Massachusetts Board of Pharmacy and Pharmacy Technician - Pharmacy Technician Certification Board or Certificate 2 EXCPT
Employee must remain in good standing with the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Pharmacy including maintenance of registration and fees
1-3 years related work experience required
Experience with computer systems required, including web-based applications and some Microsoft Office applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access

Preferred

3-6 months experience as a hospital pharmacy technician
Ability to perform simple and complex pharmaceutical calculations
Familiarity with medications: generic and trade names, methods of administration, and conversion between metric and apothecary systems
