Responsibilities
Distribute tasks to be performed by individual members of the work group; work along with other workers and set the pace; demonstrate proper work methods; ensure that needed plans, blueprints, materials and tools are available and that needed materials are obtained; obtain necessary information or decisions from supervisors on problems that come up during the work shift; maintain current knowledge on procedures, policies, written instructions and other directives; see to it that the workload is evenly distributed and balanced among workers; check work while in progress and when finished to see whether the supervisor's instructions on work sequence, procedures, methods and deadlines have been followed; urge or advise other workers to follow supervisor's instructions and meet deadlines; report to supervisors on status and progress of work and causes of work delays; and answer supervisors' questions on overall work operations and problems
Repair on unique and historically significant plaster walls, ceilings, cornices and moldings. Repair ceiling centers, ceiling panels, columns, corbel arches, corbel blocks, cornices, edge moldings, gable trims, molded carvings, pedestals, pediments, pilasters, plaster domes and plaster fire surrounds
Prepare surfaces for coating. Prepare woodwork by applying solvents to remove old finishes
Remove old paint from interior and exterior walls, doors, baseboards, floors and interior trim. Scrape, sandpaper or apply paint remover as needed to prepare surfaces for refinishing
Tape, mortar or apply topping cement to joints between dry-wall board sheets to fill joints and nail heads and bring joints into smooth, even planes. Smooth surfaces by wet brushing and sanding
Install metal lath and applies exterior plaster
Plumb and straighten angles, ceilings, corners and wall surfaces
Staple on wire-mesh frames or roughen surfaces with mechanical hammers
Tape, block, finish and sand drywall surfaces. Prime area with a stain blocking primer when painters need assistance with workload
Coordinate with unit supervisor to prepare scopes of work, cost estimates and schedules of proposed work to be performed by contract workers. Oversee and direct the work of temporary laborers
Utilize personal computer to record work orders, prepare requisitions for materials, tools and equipment, track material inventory and communicate with supervisors and organizational staff
Perform other related duties as assigned

Required
You must be a U.S. Citizen
You must be able to pass a drug test

Ability to perform decorative plasterer work without more than normal supervision
You must meet the United States Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) qualification requirements (including specialized experience and/or educational requirements) for the advertised position
