Metrologist
Tribus Aerospace Corporation is a precision component manufacturing facility in Poway, CA that specializes in unique aerospace and gas turbine components. The Metrologist supports the Quality Department by ensuring the accuracy and reliability of measurement systems, developing measurement programs, and conducting inspections to comply with AS9100 standards.

Responsibilities
Develop, validate, and debug measurement programs for CMM and other automated inspection equipment
Create and maintain supporting documentation for inspection processes
Perform 1st piece, in-process, and final inspections using CMMs as well as conventional metrology tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges, comparators, etc.)
Support and improve measurement systems and metrology practices across the organization
Recommend and implement best practices for inspection and measurement
Design or specify work-holding and fixturing for accurate part inspection
Troubleshoot and resolve metrology- or measurement-related issues
Train quality and manufacturing personnel on inspection techniques, including CMM operation
Complete customer PPAP requirements, including control plans and inspection reports
Perform incoming material inspection tasks in compliance with AS9100 and counterfeit material awareness requirements (AS6174)
Conduct process audits and follow through with corrective actions
Ensure compliance with customer specifications and quality standards
Support cross-department collaboration and continuous improvement initiatives
Record and communicate inspection results through ERP and other systems
Perform miscellaneous quality-related clerical duties as needed

Qualification
Required
1+ year of experience programming or operating a CMM, or 2+ years of experience in dimensional inspection
General knowledge of blueprint reading and GD&T
Familiarity with CAD models and their use in inspection
Proficiency with conventional metrology tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges, comparators, etc.)
Strong understanding of inspection setup, tooling, and fixture techniques
Effective verbal and written communication skills
This position requires access to information subject to ITAR and other U.S. Government security regulations. Candidates must be U.S. Citizens or U.S. Permanent Residents
Preferred
3+ years programming CMMs and 5+ years in dimensional inspection
Bachelor's degree in engineering, manufacturing, or related field
Applied knowledge of aerospace quality procedures and AS9100
Strong GD&T interpretation skills
Experience with root cause analysis and problem solving
Ability to read and interpret material specifications
Knowledge of non-destructive testing, surface finish, and heat treatment processes
Familiarity with CNC machining processes, tool design, and work-holding principles
