Automotive Mechanic Supervisor

The United States Capitol Police (USCP) safeguards the Congress and its surroundings from crime, disruption, and terrorism. The Automotive Mechanic Supervisor will oversee the Vehicle Management Division, managing shop personnel, evaluating work, and ensuring the maintenance and repair of the fleet and equipment.

Responsibilities

Supervises a diverse group of highly skilled employees certified in multiple areas of performing Automotive Worker and Automotive Mechanic work on vehicles, mountain bicycles, motorcycles, light towers, solar message boards, low speed vehicles, trailers etc
Provides administrative and technical supervision necessary for accomplishing the work of the division
Provides oversight in the servicing, diagnosing, adjusting, replacing or rebuilding and repairing the complete range of fleet and equipment and related components
Maintains a comprehensive electronic record system of fleet assets repairs and services
Monitors and allocates current Fiscal Year Budget for Fleet services and prepares documentation and reporting measures
Establishes and approves service agreements with outside Vendors
Evaluates, authorizes, and certifies contracted repairs and verify the accuracy and legitimacy of overall charges
Considerable contact with outside vendors and suppliers requiring some negotiation skills

Required

Must be a U.S. citizen
Successful completion of a background investigation is required
Must complete a one-year probationary period
Must complete a one-year supervisory probationary period
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license
52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to at least the CP-08/GS-10 level
Providing administrative and technical supervision necessary for accomplishing the work performed by automotive workers and/or mechanics
Performing a full range of automotive repair and maintenance work on electric and internal combustion engines
Testing and troubleshooting components and systems to locate equipment defects
Interpreting and applying manufacturer's repair manuals and technical specifications, schematics and engineering drawings, diagnostic codes, computer printouts, and safety manuals
Must possess current Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certifications in all of the following eight (8) areas: Engine Repair, Automatic Transmission/Transaxle, Manual Drive Train and Axles, Suspension and Steering, Brakes, Electrical/Electronic Systems, Heating and Air Conditioning, Engine Performance
Certifications Must Be Included to Consider Application Complete
There is no education substitution for experience in this series and/or grade
