Cemetery Caretaker Supervisor (Temporary)
Calverton National Cemetery is seeking a Cemetery Caretaker Supervisor to oversee the excavation of gravesites and manage cemetery operations. The role involves supervising staff, ensuring proper training, and maintaining operational standards for the cemetery.

Responsibilities
Incumbent supervises and controls the excavation of all gravesites in the cemetery
Verifies all global and geographical data are input into the program of record to accurately verify the location of all decedents interred at the cemetery
Assigns equipment used for excavating casketed and cremation gravesites, committal shelters, transporting of and lowering remains
Ensure the necessary equipment, facilities, materials, and tools needed on a day-to-day or project-by project basis are available
Responsible for cross training cemetery staff on the use of all cemetery vehicles/equipment
Ensure the field staff is trained regarding proper work routines, techniques and protocols
Maintain required reports and other employee related records
Provides overall direction of Interment Section at Calverton National Cemetery
Collaborate with the North Atlantic District staff to ensure proper accounting for remains and operation of equipment throughout the cemetery
Leverages subject matter expertise to complete daily inspections of gravesites, GPS functions as well as equipment utilized for cemetery operations
Ensure subordinate staff and contractors inspect and accurately place markers
Qualification
Required
Must be a U.S. citizen to apply for this job
Pass a pre-employment medical examination
Must possess a valid state driver's license
Ability to do the job without more than normal supervision
Candidates must demonstrate the potential to supervise work related to landscaping, groundskeeping, or related trades, including the use of hand tools, power tools, and the safe operation of machinery and equipment used in cemetery caretaking
Evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position
Ability to lead and supervise cemetery and maintenance operations (SCREEN OUT)
Ability to safely operate and drive motor vehicles and engineering equipment
Ability to interpret Instructions, Specifications, and Directives
