Market Development Director (blood bank partnerships)

They are seeking a Market Development Director to support the adoption and implementation of INTERCEPT-treated blood components in hospitals through collaboration with key personnel and the development of educational programs.

Responsibilities

Work in conjunction with designated Cerus, hospital, and blood center personnel on prioritizing hospital targets and create goals and strategy necessary support hospital adoption of Cerus’ products
Develop and deliver presentations on INTERCEPT to use with hospital customers across multiple specialties, both for Cerus Sales and Blood Center personnel
As applicable, establish training plan and tools to equip and allow Cerus and blood center personnel to lead hospitals in preparing for use of INTERCEPT products including required education and implementation steps
Identify needs and help create tools to enhance positioning and support for pathogen reduction adoption and coordinate with Cerus marketing on deliverables
Develop and manage hospital-facing educational programs to further the Cerus mission
Support the medical/scientific, economic, and operational platform for INTERCEPT by executing on all medical education, economic and clinical analyses, and operational activities associated with the adoption and implementation of approved INTERCEPT products in hospitals
Ability to analyze, interpret, and present medical/scientific data required to support the educational learning process for medical professionals and operational staff at blood centers and hospitals for INTERCEPT products
Develop, maintain, and track relationships with KOLs and other HCPs in transfusion medicine/blood banking as well as other related clinician specialties (e.g., hematology/oncology, pediatrics, infectious disease, surgery, anesthesiology, critical care, cardiac, trauma, OB, Organ Transplant, and transfusion safety)
Facilitate the completion of the clinical education and operational processes required to implement approved INTERCEPT products in the hospital with the blood bank leadership and other clinical stakeholders (e.g., Hospital Transfusion Committee, Transfusion Safety Officer, Nursing Education, Quality Assurance, Medical Executive Committee, C-Suite)
Function as a liaison to blood bank IT in the ISBT code build, error checking function within the LIS, and with the hospital IT for the build of bedside scanning for INTERCEPT products
Facilitate hospital data input and presentation of economic modeling results for blood component safety mitigation strategies to the appropriate hospital stakeholders, including the hospital C-suite as required
Actively engage with hospital billing department to provide information on coding, billing, and reimbursement for approved INTERCEPT products
Provide continuing education (CE) content via accredited presentations and/or in-services to hospital blood bank, nursing staff, and other clinician stakeholders regarding all aspects of the hospital implementation of INTERCEPT products
Identify potential hospital case studies/content for white papers or other publications supporting the adoption/implementation or routine use of INTERCEPT products in conjunction with the Market Development Strategy and to support presentations at regional and national conferences
Respond to and document requests for information from HCP, customer call activity (e.g., meetings, calls, emails, etc) and Customer Contacts in company CRM (i.e. Salesforce)
Develop and present clinical/scientific content for KOL/HCP interactions, regional and national medical congresses, hospital department grand rounds, internal company interactions, and medical education programs. Provide feedback from the field to internal Cerus stakeholders on hospital operational and clinical practices, competitive intelligence information, and new clinical practices
Provide support to leadership as required in identifying participants for advisory board meetings, collaborators on white papers, authors for abstract submissions for scientific meetings and other project support as identified
Understand and adhere to all relevant company compliance policies and industry/government regulations
Maintain all relevant professional certifications and licensure
Perform other related duties as required

Required

Minimum 5 years of clinical and/or blood center/blood bank experience in a hospital, scientific research, or medical science liaison position working in transfusion medicine/hematology/blood banking/blood safety or a related field
Documented history of success working with hospital personnel who are key decision makers, including but not limited to physicians, nurses, laboratory personnel and C-suite staff involved in the adoption and implementation of new technologies within the hospital
Readily display knowledge gained by the above experience by a comprehensive understanding of hospital operations and navigating the hospital new products approval process via hospital committees and administrative approval
Initiative-taking, self-starter with strong organizational skills
Strong presentation skills in small and large group settings
Ability to communicate effectively (encompasses verbal, written, oral, interpersonal, listening); ability to communicate across multiple disciplines successfully (internally and externally)
Experience with and ability to travel nationwide
Experience with Salesforce.com, Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Outlook, and Box
Bachelor's Degree required, preferred advanced clinical based degree, RN, MS, PharmD, PhD including however not limited to the fields of Clinical Laboratory Science, Nursing, Pharmacy, Immunology, Biology, Public Health or IT. Prior work experience in the blood center and hospital setting is highly desirable
