Responsibilities
Plans and prepares for ground support provision
Inspects and assesses site conditions to determine scaling requirements, misfires and starting point, and takes action according to site requirements
Positions equipment to ensure safety of other equipment and personnel
Monitors and manages equipment performance using appropriate indicators
Operates equipment safely within work environment, road conditions and limitations
Cleans equipment and conducts housekeeping activities
Manages drill operations within the development drift
Evaluates drilling techniques and options
Recognizes capabilities and resulting work of the driller and its effect on production costs
Evaluates and selects appropriate equipment for blast hole drilling that best matches production requirements
Contributes to the design of the drill program based on mining production rates, drill hole layout, drill bit/rod life, drill penetration rate and drill hole deviation
Confirms drill pattern using acceptable survey technique
Investigates options for improvement of drill performance including consumable items, drilling techniques, drill patterns
Demonstrates competency to operate all types of drills used in Nyrstar mines
Proficient in drilling burn cuts, slabbing, benching, and backstopes
Proficient in all types of drilling, including production, development and bolting
Able to perform ground control
Demonstrates ability to 'read' ground structure and correctly scale ground
Qualification
Required
Modules: Drilling, Bolting, Mechanical Scaling, Loader, and Blasting
2 years' experience in mining
Sign-off on Drilling, Bolting, Mechanical Scaling, Loader, Blasting, and Manual Scaling
Blasting License Required
Yearly Performance review must be Fully Satisfactory or Commendable
Progression readiness per current proficiencies
